After a long and sometimes frustrating application process, Haslewey is very pleased to announce that we have finally been given the green light by Post Office Counters Ltd to open a Haslewey Community Post Office within the centre.
This is fantastic news, however we are not quite at the finishing line just yet. After tremendous public support thus far, we are once again calling on the people of Haslemere and the surrounding district to help us fundraise for the set-up costs. Haslewey have been very lucky with the Post Office offering to supply the counter equipment free of charge, significantly reducing the overall set-up cost. This leaves a deficit of £15,000 to pay for the construction and fit-out of what will soon be the new Community Post Office. This may sound expensive but it needs to include certain security stipulations and other alterations to fall in line with the Post Office brand and meet all of their requirements, whilst retaining the integrity of The Haslewey Community Centre.
Local men, Ken Griffiths & Simon Bowyer, both Trustees of Haslewey have admirably decided to take up the challenge of running The Great South Run in order to get us one step closer to achieving our goal. They are aiming to raise 10% of the £15,000 we require. Neither of them have any previous running experience and I think it would be fair to say have started from scratch in order to meet this head on. Please help them and us get to our target by donating, so we can bring the Post Office back to Wey Hill.
